Originating from the northernmost part of the Hamadan influence zone, Zandjan carpets feature some North Persian or Kurdish stylistic elements especially in the colors. The designs usually feature an imposing and multi-shaped hexagon that dominates and frames the carpet field, and is highlighted by a large geometrically well-organized border surrounded by various secondary borders. The warp and weft are made of cotton. The pile, usually sheep, is medium-high shaved.
