Varamin 337 × 217 cm
€5,500.00
This authentic Varamin carpet was knotted in Iran.
Depending on the angle from which you look at the carpet, you can perceive the colors differently, in fact on one side they will be darker while on the other they will be lighter. This is due to the pile and counter-pile of the carpet.

Find out more about Varamin rugs
About 50 km south-east of Tehran, on the road to Meshed, you reach Varamin (Veramin or Waramin). Under the rule of the Mongols, from the 13th to the 14th century, the city was a metropolis, as evidenced by the important architectural monuments that remain. In the more recent past, the town has become a large North-Persian knotting center, which puts on the market, especially in Tehran, high-quality carpets and Kilims. The typical colors are a dark blue or a very warm dark red and occasionally also a light blue. For the ornaments, light beige, brown, red and its shades are used. The warp and weft are mainly made of cotton, the pile, always made of wool, has a low shaving.
