Learn more about Talkhonceh Persian Rugs
Talkhonceh carpets are knotted in the southwestern region of Chahar Mahal.
Their iconography has been influenced by the Bakhtiari, Lori and Ghashghai, giving life to high quality examples with shiny pile. Natural colours are used, combined in a play of contrasts with bright hues. The most common layout is that of rhomboid-shaped medallions arranged in the centre on a single row or across the entire field of the carpet, but we can also find concentric medallions with an infinite number of small motifs scattered across the entire field, such as rosettes, eight-pointed stars and animals. Thanks to its geographical position of 2000 metres above sea level, which makes the climate very cold, the wool of the sheep is very thin, and characterises the fineness of the Talkhonceh carpets. The warp and weft are usually made of cotton, while the wool pile has a medium shear. Whoever buys a Talkhonceh carpet buys a very versatile carpet that can easily be combined with both classic and modern furnishings.
