Depending on the angle from which you look at the carpet, you can perceive the colors differently, in fact on one side they will be darker while on the other they will be lighter. This is due to the pile and counter-pile of the carpet.

Learn more about Sirjan rugs
About halfway between Kirman and Neriz is the town of Sirjan with almost 10,000 inhabitants, which at the time of the Arab occupation in the 8th century was called Saidabad. The colours used to knot the carpets are always very harmonious and balanced. The field, that portion of the carpet that excludes the borders, is usually red, dark red, brown and dark blue. White, ivory and yellow are used sparingly as ornamental colours and for the borders, orange and green have been recently introduced. The motifs are mostly geometric shapes, the entire field is sometimes filled with polygons, rhombuses and hooked lozenges in a very impressive arrangement. The warp and weft are made of cotton, sometimes natural wool is also used and more rarely goat hair. The pile is always made of wool and is medium-high shaved.
