The city of Saruk or Sarough is located about 50 km north of Arak in Western Persia. From here, specimens of the first order and excellent quality were sent out to the whole world, but especially to America and Europe. Usually these specimens with a beige, blue or red field produce a harmoniously matched effect with contrasting colors in different shades of yellow, green and pink. The designs are mostly floral with large flowers and plants, lozenges and hexagons. The warp and weft are in cotton while the wool pile has a medium-high or high shear.
