Learn more about Joshegan rugs
The town of Joshagan is located at the foot of Mount Kuh-e-Varganeh, on the road from Isfahan to Qum. The mountain town has a long history of carpet weaving and plays a leading role in the new production as well. The primary colors used are light blue in various shades, red and yellow. The new carpets are a little darker than the old ones. The design is usually characterized by a large diamond that dominates on a dark blue or deep red field, covered with Herati patterns and diamonds of various sizes. Occasionally Joshagan are also present on the market that clearly imitate the style and color scheme of the South Persian origins. The warp and weft are made of cotton while the wool pile is medium-high or high shaved. Joshagan carpets are generally very resistant to wear and tear and are part of the upper middle class.
