Learn more about Heriz rugs
The small town of Heriz, the capital of a weaving center in Azerbaijan, has given its name to an important area of Persian origin. The colors that distinguish these carpets are dark red, brown, light blue, orange and beige, with blue being used as a contrasting and contour color. The designs are characterized by a central medallion that is usually rectangular and very complex. The warp and weft are made of cotton, while the wool pile has a low shaving.
